TweetI came across this fascinating video interview of a 109 year old man, Dr. Bernando LaPallo. He is interviewed by Dr. Stefan Kasian, entrepreneur-psychologist-raw food diet proponent.
LaPallo, of Mesa, Arizona, credits his longevity & vitality to his healthy diet, faith, and lifestyle choices. His father was a doctor and herbalist in Brazil and began teaching his son about eating right and living a healthy lifestyle as a young child. Even today, at 109 years old, Bernando still walks a mile & a half each morning and then drinks a homemade smoothie of fresh fruit and herbs.
LaPallo eats “Super Foods” (mainly fresh fruits, veggies, herbs, nuts, and fish). He believes that food made by God and in its natural state is the most healthy choice…and it’s hard to argue with the results. He’s been eating this way, primarily raw foods, for over 100 years, since he was a young child! And he’s already outlived his son by 29 years, so it clearly isn’t from the genes.
While he recommends all fresh fruits and vegetables, his favorite super foods include: blueberries, cantaloupe, beans, avocado, strawberries, cabbage, leafy greens, cinnamon tea, broccoli, nuts, olive oil, garlic, quinoa, and fish, plus herbs, vitamins, and minerals. He also suggests eating several small meals throughout the day, rather than 2 or 3 large meals. He says to avoid sugars and sweeteners except small amounts of honey & chocolate. Recently he added filtered ionized alkaline water into his health regimen and claims it has helped him feel even younger.
He wrote a book, Age Less Live More, which shares some of his secrets for natural anti-aging, feeling strong and vibrant for a lifetime, performing at your best, and maintaining beautiful young skin.
